1. Do not use my work without permission whether for personal, educational, commercial, or any other purposes. I usually grant special permissions to people who actually care enough to ask for them, so don't be shy.
2. Using my art to create avatars or icons to represent yourself in IM programs, forums, or chat programs is permitted if the avatar or icon is 100 x 100 pixels or smaller. Please do not use my art to make avatars or icons to represent your character unless it is artwork that you commissioned.
3. Commissions belong to the person who commissioned them as much as they belong to me. A client, upon receiving the finished work, will have full, but not exclusive, rights to do whatever he wishes with the original art. This includes altering, posting online, publishing in an artbook, and selling prints. However, credit (see #10) for the original artwork must be given to me.
4. Commissions belong to me as much as they belong to the person who commissioned them. I will retain a digital copy for my own purposes and will have full, but not exclusive, rights to do whatever I wish with the digital file. This includes altering, posting online, publishing in an artbook, and selling prints. However, I will credit the commissioner for the subject and concept. More exclusive rights are available for an additional price.
5. Copying my art for educational purposes is permitted only for the purpose of learning to draw. This includes tracing and freehanding. The student's version may be posted online, but credit must be given to me for the original art and concept. Commissions may not be copied for any purpose unless permission is also granted by the commissioner. Remember, a commission does not belong to me alone.
6. Copying my art for educational decoration (ie. classrooms, notebooks, projects) is not permitted.
7. Downloading my art for backgrounds and screensavers on your own personal computer is permitted if the watermark and signature remain.
8. Downloading and/or printing my lineart for the purpose of adding colour is permitted and encouraged. Posting the coloured version in online galleries is permitted if credit is given to me for the original lineart. Selling the coloured version is not permitted, since the lineart is still very much mine. As a courtesy, please let me see it when you're done. ^_^
9. Fanart of my characters is permitted and encouraged. Credit must be given to me for the creation and ownership of the character, but what you do with the character is your artistic liberty. However, yaoi, yuri, and pornographic images are not permitted as these would grossly misrepresent the character and creator. Again, if you please, let me see it when you're done. ^_^
10. Credit is defined as mentioning my name, Dorothy T. Rose, and linking to my webpage or online gallery. This code will help you make a link:
<a href="http://redrose.sandwich.net/">The Red Rose</a>
11. This is not intended to be a legally binding contract. It is meant to be merely a statement of my wishes in good faith that they will be respected. As long as everyone plays nicely, I will not be forced to hire a lawyer to reword it in unintelligable syllables and my work will remain as easily obtainable as it is. If you have any questions about the definitions and intentions in this statement or would like special permissions, feel free to ask.
