Tea by the Sea![]() This is one of the few still lifes that I've done that I like. I don't remember what inspired me to use this composition, other than the fact that I was looking for a challenge, but I've always been very pleased with the overall results. Now, looking at it afresh (for it's been hidden in my footlocker for almost four years), the particularly "seaside" feel to it comes out very strongly. I can almost imagine a delicate lady in a white summer dress, with her hair done up elegantly, sitting under a lace parasol. Her many pillows provide a luxurious backrest and her feet extend just a little past the edge of her fringed blanket to rest on the hot sand. Beside her is a small collection of pretty shells that she collected during her stroll along the surf just before tea. Well...that's what this image conjures up in my mind. ^_^;; Medium: Chalk Completed: 2001 or 2002 ![]() |
